Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best time to visit Peru?

The best time to visit Peru is during the dry season, from April to October. These months offer clear skies and minimal rain, which makes exploring Cusco, Machu Picchu, and the Sacred Valley more enjoyable.

Will altitude sickness affect me during the trip?

Yes, altitude sickness can affect some travelers, especially in Cusco (3,399m). We recommend:

  • Acclimatizing in the Sacred Valley before visiting Cusco.
  • Staying hydrated and avoiding heavy meals.
  • Consulting your doctor about medication such as Diamox if you are concerned.

Can I climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain?

Yes, but you need to purchase an additional ticket in advance since spaces are limited. Huayna Picchu is a steeper climb of about 2 hours, while Machu Picchu Mountain is less steep but takes around 3 hours.

How do I get from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu?

From Aguas Calientes, travelers take a 30-minute bus ride that brings you directly to the entrance of Machu Picchu. The bus ticket is included in your package.

What are the luggage restrictions on the train to Machu Picchu?

Peru Rail and Inca Rail allow only one small backpack or bag up to 5kg (11 lbs). Larger suitcases should remain at your hotel in Cusco or the Sacred Valley.

Is the Nazca Lines flight safe?

Yes, the overflight is operated by certified pilots and aircrafts that follow strict safety standards. Before takeoff, passengers receive a full safety briefing. We only work with trusted local partners.

What should I pack for this trip?

We recommend:

  • Comfortable walking shoes for tours.
  • Layered clothing (temperatures vary from warm days to cool nights).
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat for sun protection.
  • Rain jacket or poncho (especially between November and March).
  • Reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.

Are meals included in the package?

Breakfasts are included daily at the hotels. Some tours include lunches as specified in the itinerary, while dinners are usually not included so you can enjoy Peru’s diverse gastronomy freely.

What happens if it rains during the tour?

Tours operate rain or shine. If rain occurs, guides adjust the pace and provide alternatives when necessary. In Machu Picchu, rain ponchos are sold at the entrance for convenience.

Are the Ballestas Islands similar to the Galápagos?

While smaller in size, the Ballestas Islands are often called the “Poor Man’s Galápagos.” Visitors see sea lions, penguins, and a variety of seabirds in their natural habitat.

Do I need travel insurance?

We highly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that covers trip cancellations, medical emergencies, and adventure activities like the Nazca Lines flight or hiking.

Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?

Yes, most hotels and restaurants in Peru accommodate vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets. Please let us know your dietary needs in advance so we can make all necessary arrangements.

What kind of accommodations are included?

The package includes handpicked 4- and 5-star hotels in Lima, Paracas, the Sacred Valley, and Cusco. Each property is chosen for comfort, authenticity, and service quality. Upgrades are available upon request.
