Upon arrival in Cusco, your guide will be waiting for you at the airport to take you to the Sacred Valley, which lies 600 meters lower in altitude. This ensures a smoother acclimatization to the highland environment.

Your first stop will be Awanacancha, where you’ll encounter South America’s iconic camelids, including llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, and guanacos. You’ll even have the opportunity to interact with these animals and learn about traditional weaving techniques used by the local communities.

Next, we’ll explore the ancient Pisac archaeological site, known for its impressive terraced fields, temples, and an Inca cemetery. Finish your visit by shopping at Pisac’s bustling market, where you can find handcrafted goods made by the local artisans.

Your first stop will be Ollantaytambo, a massive Inca fortress that once served as the last stand for the Inca civilization during the Spanish conquest. Wander through its ancient temples and squares as your guide shares fascinating stories of the site’s history.

Next, we’ll head to the Maras salt mines, where you’ll witness thousands of salt pans still used today by local communities. The salt from this area is world-renowned for its rich flavor.

Your final destination today is the Moray terraces. These concentric circles were used by the Incas as an experimental agricultural laboratory to test the effects of different altitudes on crops.
